More Than a Massage: A Walk Through the Lighthouse Experience
A common comment from a client who has just experienced their first massage therapy or movement session with me is, "That was different, and I really liked it."
Every offering, whether massage or movement, is rooted in intention. The products I use, the music I play, the questions I ask. They're all designed to help you return to your body and enter into deeper conversation with your spirit.
The Lighthouse is my massage therapy studio, where I see clients. From the moment you step out of your car, the flowers, trees, and surroundings naturally bring ease and softening to your system. As you walk the path to the Lighthouse, you can hear gravel crunching beneath your feet and water flowing from a fountain. Once you open the Lighthouse door, the aroma of essential oils greets you and instantly helps your body and mind soften and relax.
Before we begin, we talk about how your body and mind are feeling. This conversation helps me understand how to best use our session time. I'll share my plan and answer any questions you have. I invite clients to choose a word or intention for the session. When your mind starts to wander, or drift toward your to-do list, that intention brings you back to your body and centers your mind.
As the bodywork begins, my goal is for your body to feel safe with my touch. I usually start with compression, which allows your body to familiarize itself with my hands. Those beginning moments teach me where your body is holding tension. Maybe in your low back, shoulders, or hips.
I then bring all of this together: your physical body and the intention you've shared. Yes, there's a flow to the session, but never a one-size-fits-all routine. This is where energetic healing and massage therapy techniques come together to soften, lengthen, and create space in the body. Every client's needs are different, and what I'm proud to do is meet each client exactly where they are.
Perhaps a client needs more stretching or body balancing to release tension and stress.
Maybe they're dealing with sinus issues or inflammation, and manual lymphatic drainage would serve them best.
Or maybe a client is carrying grief and simply needs intentional, safe touch to remind them that they're worthy of support and care.
By listening, I help clients release tension and cultivate greater awareness and peace within their physical and energetic bodies.
